What is ICT?

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is the convergence of informatics, computer systems, and communication technologies to facilitate the way information is created, collected, processed, transmitted, and stored. ICT is the cornerstone of modern society, and its importance cannot be overstated – driving innovation, enhancing productivity and fostering global connectivity.

Information Technology

Disciplines we recruit:

Computer Sciences

Computer Science is the study of computer hardware and software design. Whereas IT focuses on the practical side of informatic technologies, Computer Science deals with its more theoretical aspects.

It encompasses the use of advanced algorithms to invent new tools to transfer and manipulate information and the practical problems involved in implementing them through computer hardware and software. As such computer scientists use code daily and expected to know at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++ or HTML The sector is growing rapidly as technology advances and becomes more pervasive in our daily lives.

Subsets we recruit:

Telecommunications

Telecommunications commonly referred to as Telecoms, is the exchange of information over significant distances by electronic means and encompasses all types of voice, data and video transmission.

This includes wired and wireless information-transmitting technologies such as wired phones; mobile devices; the internet; microwaves; fibre optics; satellites; and broadcasting. The sector is made up of equipment vendors, service providers and wireless communications. While the vendor market is the largest, wireless communications is the fastest growing area as service providers shift their focus from voice to data/video services and adopt cloud technology.
