Temporary Worker
We help you maintain a flexible workforce, bridge skill gaps and adapt swiftly to changing markets, all without the administrative burden of managing temps.
What Is It?
Temporary workers or “temps” are hired through agencies to fulfil short-term business needs like projects, seasonal demands, or staff absences. This practice offers companies flexibility and cost savings by supplementing permanent staff only when required, eliminating long-term commitments.
Moreover, by engaging temporary workers with the prerequisite skills, experience, and qualifications, businesses can maintain high productivity levels without the need for extensive training.
It’s also a quicker way to onboard new employees as temporary workers are technically employed by the agency and so the agency is responsible for administering employment contracts and managing payroll.
How Does It Work?
Sourcing: we search our internal database, professional network, and post job ads to find readily available active job seekers.
Screening: candidates undergo thorough screening to ensure they possess the right skills, experience, and qualifications. Qualified candidates are then referenced before being sent to the client.
Onboarding: in addition to administering employment contracts and managing payroll, this may involve signing an NDA with the worker to protect sensitive client information; performing any necessary background checks (i.e. criminal check) or providing immigration support.
Fee Structure
The agency pays the temporary worker in accordance with a signed timesheet (usually through an umbrella company) and then recoups the cost from the client, with the agency fee added on top.
The invoice comprises of basic pay + other costs (payroll/employer costs, statutory obligation) + agency fee.
Temp-to-Perm
Making a permanent hire can be risky. Our temp-to-perm solution enables businesses to trial and evaluate workers on the job before making a long-term commitment.
What Is It?
Temp-to-perm is an employment arrangement where a temporary worker has the opportunity to be hired permanently after a trial period, usually 12 working weeks.
This “try before you buy” model allows companies to evaluate the candidate’s performance before making a long-term commitment, mitigating the risk of a bad hire.
As temporary workers are technically employed by the agency, the agency is entitled to charge a transfer fee in accordance with the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.
How Does It Work?
Trial Period: During the trial, the agency invoices the company for the temporary worker’s time worked.
Evaluation: At the end of the trial, if both parties are satisfied, the employee transfers from the agency to the company.
Termination: If either party is unsatisfied, the contract can be terminated without obligation, as per the temporary contract terms.
Fee Structure
The transfer fee is a percentage % of the candidate’s starting annual salary.
The transfer fee is null and void if the temporary worker is hired by the company or third party 8 weeks after completion of the assignment or 14 weeks from the start of the assignment (whichever is later).
If the temporary worker is introduced by the company to a third party which results in the engagement of the temporary worker by the third party within the same period, the company shall be liable to pay a transfer fee.
